Research Internship: SUM Group 07/06/2010
During my 4th year, I was approached by several research groups to do an internship. I chose to work with the Social and Ubiquitous Mobile group. I was awarded an EPSRC Vacation Bursary and spent 4 months building a mobile app for Turner Broadcasting. The SUM group worked with iPhones, and I was required to learn iOS development and to become comfortable developing on an iMac. For my project, I was asked to develop a Cartoon Network branded peer-to-peer messaging application, involving message passing over Bluetooth and WiFi. I very much enjoyed working with this research group, and appreciate their help and encouragement to put myself forward as a Ph.D. candidate.
