While I was interning at Google London, I was given the opportunity to volunteer at a Raspberry Pi event in Cambridge. I helped a group of 9-11 year olds modify a game on a Raspberry Pi using Python. Amusingly, all the girls grouped together and I was encouraged to join them, as pictured below. Eben Upton and Eric Schmidt were at the event to announce that Google would supply 15,000 Raspberry Pi for school kids around the UK. Our group was even visited by Simon Peyton Jones, a former professor at Glasgow University and contributor to the Haskell programming language. It was a great event to have been able to attend. Following from this experience, I started a Code Club at a local school in Glasgow, where I could continue to inspire kids to learn to code.
